LE COMBAL CAHORS MALBEC - 100% Malbec from AOC Cahors where Malbec originates! 20-30 year old vines from a single vineyard, stainless steel fermented for freshness, aged in neutral oak 12 months for depth. Violet floral notes with a tannic structure. The perfect dark deep beauty for this time of year.
RIVERA VIOLANTE NERO DI TROIA - Southern Puglia is known for many unique indigenous varietals in which Rivera's founder played a crucial role in reintroducing these varietals to international markets since its start in 1950. Dark, lush, black cherry and blackberry with crushed dried violet in the glass, rounding into prosciutto, pink peppercorn, dried sage and a slightly tannic finish.
VILLA PAPIANO PAPESSE MODIGLIANA SANGIOVESE - Single vineyard of 40+ year old vines, this high altitude estate in Emilia-Romagna overlooks the clouds. Neighboring Tuscany gets all the credit for Sangiovese, but this organic-biodynamic winemaker isn't shy of sharing what Sangiovese can do without any bells and whistles. Stainless steel aged, this bright, fleshy Sangiovese gets a touch savory black olive from 5% Balsamina. A hint of rustic structure leaves you at the finish, but nothing like a classic Tuscan Chianti.
DOMAINE LA MONTAGNETTE CÔTES DU RHÔNE VILLAGES - While this CdR does come from a coop, it is considered the best in France with organic and biodynamic producers who all aim to produce wines with a sense of place by producing estate specific wines. This 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 5% Mourvedre and Carignan CdR is aged in all concrete with native yeast - it's big and cozy and meant for all of your cozy winter snuggles and dishes.
ZLATAN OTOK HVAR WHITE - Y'all ready for some new varietals?! 25% Bogdanuša, 25% Pošip, 25% Maraština, 25% Prč from the island of Hvar - all indigenous Dalmatian varietals dating back to the 4th century BC. Bright aromas of melon and figs with a touch of dried flowers, power and minerality come through on the palate with fresh acidity to pair well with a light lunch or a heavier seafood dinner.
TENUTA DELL'UGOLINO VERDICCHIO - Located in the Marche, in the heart of Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi, the Petrini family has been making wine since 1980 - a father passing the torch to his son. This single vineyard Verdicchio offers bright grapefruit and starfruit, lime oils, and rocky salinity.
TREMBLAY QUINCY SAUVIGNON BLANC - Located just west of Sancerre, this 40-50 year old vine white is from Quincy, a small area once covered by ancient ocean. Thank you, limestone soil, for creating this French sauvy b done right! While also very green in practice and farming, this wine ages on the lees for utmost unctuousness. Fresh-cut grass, honeydew melon, yellow and green apple, and salty minerality. The perfect charcuterie wine!

December's box is full of variety. Although it's mostly Italian, there's a touch of Slovenian or Spanish (depending on your membership). There's classic and there's unique of it's own, but all delicious. 🎅

It's a Greek July while we continue to channel Grecian summer! While we love Greek wine, our club isn't always this Greek-heavy. But we wanted to include Liatiko for July-atiko (thanks, Nikos, for that one), and a fun little comparison in there... two bottles of Vlahiko (an indigenous Greek varietal characterized by fresh red berries, green leaves, and spices) - one still and one sparkling! Of course, there's classic bubbles to pop for celebration and plenty of good BBQ and day drinking wine in there. So be sure to come by and snag it tonight or tomorrow! LA SAPATA BĀBEASCĀ NEAGRĀ 🌊 (this Romanian varietal is light skinned, big berries and beaujolais in color. it's a little juicy but dry herbal with a subtle tannic appearance)
TERENZUOLA VERMENTINO NERO 🌊 (ever had a vermentino nero before? they're rare to find! this one is semi-carbonically macerated which makes a super fresh nose, prickly and brambly in the best way, juicy but not like the leaf of a blackberry. Yummy!)
AZUL Y GARANZA TEMPRANILLO 🌊 (glug with friends around those first of the season campfires. or with a burger. you choose!)

Producer highlight this month:
At Roccafiore, Leonardo and Luca Baccarelli aim to make wine with a true sense of place. They say that "'land' is not merely soil but the inspiration for advancement with beauty as the lynch pin, as a tangible sign of respect for the community". Acting from true dialogue between head and heart, their viticulture is rooted in belonging, identity and character... knowing that truly good fruit comes from harmony in place.
TXAKOLI PRIMO ⭐️ (what says spring better than txakoli?! perfectly lime zesty, touch salty, zippy, clean, with a zip of spice. low abv makes it the perfect porch pounder)
ROCCAFIORE GRECHETTO ⭐️ (gorgeously mature yet light on its feet, this grechetto showcases the intentionally harvested and patient maturing of Roccafiore. elegant, yet refined, this Gambero Rosso Tre Bicchieri winner [highest award of Italy's wine rating system], is in it's ideal drinking window - so crack open and enjoy with your next meal or charcuterie)
ROCCAFIORE SANGIOVESE ⭐️ (your new favorite pizza, pasta, anything wine! you'll taste the intentionality and pureness of fruit is just this simple sangiovese, it makes all the difference!)
DU RIVA DOLCETTO D'OVADA ⭐️ (did I brag about this enough above? Another Gambero Rosso winner, this one best in wine for 13 years in a row. 'du riva' means two sides of a hill which creates a little amphitheater and the best of the best pick goes in this wine. open-air fermentation and then aged in a mixture of large barrique, cherry, and chestnut for a vintage-specific amount of time until it meets the winemaker's idea of perfection)
HURLUBURLU ⭐️ (my initial thoughts? "juicy, wild, yummm." literally meaning "eccentric", hurluburlu's 15th generation winemaker is going out of the AOC Bourgueil's norm to make 100% carbonic cabernet franc in a friendly, lifted, quaffable way to showcase what cab franc can do)
LEZAUN TEMPRANILLO ⭐️ (in a land of large co-ops and selling grapes in Navarra, this 1780s established family winery remains small and true to place by passing wisdom down from generation to generation. continuing minimal intervention, even low SO2, this grenache-tempranillo will showcase the personality of the vineyard it came from)
