Produced from organically cultivated young vines which are ten years old, the Young Vineyards Limniona from Christos Zafeirakis is a fruitier, more ethereal, version of Limniona. Zafeirakis is an evangelist of spontaneous fermentation and large oak barrel maturation. He uses five ton oak barrels for 12 months maturation, resulting in an undetectable oak; cloudlike, and almost invisible. Aromatically it bursts with vibrant and almost crunchy red cherries alongside dark roses, mint and some savoury notes. There is a lovely purity and definition on the palate with silky tannins cutting through the wine’s delicate body, and a long, persistent and mineral aftertaste.
Pair with roast leg of lamb or chicken, and grilled zucchini and Halloumi.

The Zafeirakis family has been practicing viticulture for more than 100 years in Tyrnavos, located in the Thessaly region of Central Greece. Christos Zafeirakis, their 4th generation winemaker, is one of a handful of young, pioneering Greek winemakers. He is widely credited with reviving the indigenous variety of Limniona, while simultaneously leaving his mark on both Malagousia and Assyrtiko wines.
