Baharat (the Arabic word for 'spices') is an aromatic, warm, and sweet spice blend used similarly to Garam Masala in Indian cuisine. Full flavored and distinctive, Baharat is traditionally used in kibbeh and to season ground meats, stews, and soups, and often sprinkled on fish before grilling. Turkish chefs use Baharat as an all-purpose seasoning for meat and vegetable dishes. It is sometimes also used on the table to spice up meals. We find this blend especially good with chicken and lamb – just rub some on with a little salt before grilling.
